3D printing - Attachment bracket for tube

A new project for some engineering & 3D printing. The project consisted in finding a way to install a "string pot" sensor on a round tube. Please enjoy the result, that is strong, lightweight and adjustable.

To have an off-center attachment point for the string pot sensor on a round tube, a bracket in shape of a clamp has been designed.

The 3D printed part is strong and lightweight and doesn't scratch the paint on the carbon fiber tubing or surrounding parts. As the attachment tube is "adjustable", it is important that the clamp/bracket can also be easily adjusted and/or reoriented with no effort. The two bolts and nuts can be easily dismounted and the bracket removed or repositioned.

From concept to result in almost no time due to our 3D printer

The 3D printer makes prototyping so much more effective. It took only two tries to have a great result and we are very happy with the actual part installed on board.

As the part is hidden in the steering part installation away from UV and wet areas, we are expecting great longevity as well.

bracket and attachment
There is no load on the part itself as the string pot attached is a positions sensor only
